This month is dedicated to Our Lady of Sorrows. The seven sorrows Mary endured are Prophecy of Simeon, The Flight to Egypt, Loss of Jesus in the Temple, Mary meets Jesus on Road to Calvary, Jesus dies on the cross, Mary receives the Body of Jesus, and Jesus is placed in the Tomb.
This month is our Catholic Faith, we celebrated the birth of Mary, Jesus' mother on Saturday, September 8th. The feast of the Most Holy Name of Mary is on Wednesday, September 12th.
Autumn begins on Saturday, September 22nd. We celebrate the change of the season with the beautiful colors of the leaves. The smells of the season include the fragrance of apples in a variety of deserts and in cider. The taste of pumpkin foods pleases our palates. The feel of jumping in a pile of crisp dry leaves. All are wonderful ways to celebrate the season God blesses us with.
September 5th is Saint Teresa of Calcutta's Feast Day. Talk to your children about when she lived and died, her work, and her writings. Go to www.formed.org and watch a video on her life. Here is an activity.

September 27th is the feast of Saint Vincent de Paul. Go through your clothing and select some to donate to the St. Vincent de Paul container in our parish driveway.
September 28th is the feast day of
St. Wenceslaus. Be a peacemaker. Do something nice for someone that you sometimes argue with.
September 30th is the feast day of Saint Jerome. He is known for translating the Bible from Hebrew to Latin. Say this Latin phrase “Ora Pro Nobis,” which means “pray for us”.

September 8th is the Mary's birthday. Display a picture or statue of Mary in a prominent place in your home. Make a cake or cupcakes decorated in honor of Mary. Sing Happy Birthday. Here are additional activities.
September 9th is Grandparents Day, the first Sunday after Labor Day. Assist your children in doing something special with their grandparents. Create memories for them. Gather pictures over the years and put together a photo album. Spend the day with them and create a special meal.
September 12th is the Most Holy Name of Mary. Display letters cut out and decorate or wooden letters painted to spell our MARY.
September 14th is the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. Count how many crosses are in your home ( count jewelry, rosaries, etc). Gather them and display them together in your prayer space.
