Ministry to Children with Special Needs
We welcome children of all abilities.
We try to include most children with special needs in
our regular groups with accommodations.
We minister to children with additional needs
by offering a smaller group with hands on activities.
The sessions are held after 9 am morning mass to enable families to attend this mass
if their child needs a less stimulating environment than the regular weekend liturgies.
We utilized a new program called Finding God
with the generosity of the Holy Name Society donation.
We are expanded our program to offer a group for
children ages 6 to 11 and another group for children 12 and older.
We will assist in preparing children to receive the Sacraments.
We meet on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 10:15am.
We are blessed with wonderful catechists,
Mariann Hamm. Megan McNamara and Patty Wittmann and assistant, Stacey Gura.
If you have a child with special needs, we ask that you complete an Individualized Religious Education Plan
to help us know what accommodations your child may need.
We would like to meet you and your child before our program begins.
Our United States Catholic Bishops issued
Guidelines for the Celebration of the Sacraments
for People with Disabilities.
We adapt our sacramental preparation to meet the needs
of the individuals we serve.
David's Refuge is a program that offers an overnight opportunity for families with a child with disabilities to get away as a family. They provide a place to stay, usually a bed and breakfast and gift cards for attractions and restaurants in the area.
