On Holy Thursday, we remember Jesus' last meal with his friends, known as the Last Supper. Here Jesus offered Bread and Wine which during mass through the power of the Holy Spirit becomes the Body and Blood of Jesus.
We also remember Jesus' service to others symbolized in the washing of the feet of the disciples. At mass, the celebrant washes the feet of parishioners.
After mass, the Eucharist is placed in a Monstrance and the congregation processes to the Chapel to adore Christ in the Eucharist. We sing the words: Stay with me, remain here with me, watch and pray , watch and pray as we process.
We are asked to sit in the Garden with Jesus recalling Jesus' time in the garden of Gethsemane. Jesus asked his disciples to "Sit here while I go over there and pray.”
At the Altar of Repose we sing Tantum Ergo. All are invited to stay and keep vigil.
