EUCHARIST ADORATION is when we spend time in prayer with Jesus in the form of the Blessed Sacrament. Once a host has been Consecrated at Mass,we call it the Blessed Sacrament or the Eucharist or a Scared Host as it is Jesus' Body.
Jesus is in a Monstrance in our Adoration Chapel weekly for twenty-four hours for seven days a week except during Masses for Sunday or Solemnities. A Holy Hour is when you spend an hour together with others. Exposition is when a priest begins a Holy Hours by taking the Host out of the Tabernacle and places it in a Monstrance. The song Pange, Lingua, gloriosi/tantum ergo is sung at this time. Benediction is when we close the Holy Hour with special prayers. The song Sing,My Tongue, The Savior's Glory is sung.
Children are welcome to spend quiet time with Jesus. This booklet is helpful in teaching your child about adoration and offers reflections to use. Children in 1st through 3rd grade could begin with Holy Ten minutes.
